Lancaster Township is approximately 37 square miles of land which is located in the southwestern part of Butler County. The township was officially incorporated in 1854, although pioneers settled here in 1796.
Today, Lancaster Township is home to over 2,500 residents. Route 19 and Interstate 79 run directly through the township. It is situated north of Zelienople and Harmony. The township is located just 14 miles north of Cranberry Township, 17 miles west of Butler and 12 miles east of Ellwood City. It is conveniently located close to many parks, such as Moraine State Park and McConnells Mill State Park, and colleges, such as Butler County Community College, Geneva College and Slippery Rock University. It also has quick access to the Seneca Valley Secondary Campus. Lancaster Township is mostly made up of residences and farms, but you can find several businesses situated throughout the township, such as the Strawberry Ridge Golf Course and the Log Cabin Inn.
